Gilmore Reproductions has launched myfiles.gilmorerepro.com,
which is a web-based file transfer platform allowing
users to manage digital assets through a central service.
Myfiles enables you to easily upload multiple files
and directories from a web browser onto to the central
server. Internet accessibility from anywhere makes
it mobile and extremely convenient.
Email notifications
are sent to system users as their submitted files pass
through various stages of the workflow.
The server end
is based on a Web Application architecture called Struts
and uses Java servlets to processes requests. The Myfiles
client interface is a web-browser that displays/provides
the requested information from the central server.
The browser runs a Java applet and does not require
other applications like an FTP client. Most users are
familiar with web-browsers ensuring a minimal learning
curve. This system allows you to manage your own files.
Previously
when a file was uploaded, you would fax or email job
related details to the print shop. Once job specs were
received, a print operator needed to correlate faxed
job specs with a submitted file on the FTP server.
The operator was often challenged because not all customers
follow the same naming convention 'logic' making it
a painstaking process.
Uploaded assets are stored in
a folder under the job ticket number. Job details include
required work files, which are located in the same
sub-folder taking the "guess
work" out for print operators.
Myfiles features
history tracking and workflow management, which offers "print-on-demand" flexibility
making reorder jobs simple for customers.
